SOP - Daily Pre-Job Checklist

Purpose

To ensure all necessary equipment, tools, materials, and job details are verified and ready before starting work, minimizing delays and ensuring high-quality results.


Scope

This SOP applies to all team members responsible for preparing for daily line painting jobs.


Procedure

Step 1: Verify Job Details

  1. Confirm Job Location:

    • Double-check the address and access instructions.
    • Ensure the location aligns with the day’s schedule.
  2. Review Client Instructions:

    • Verify specific client requests, such as:
      • Line widths and colors.
      • Custom stencils or designs.
      • Deadlines or time constraints.
  3. Understand Work Scope:

    • Confirm the scope of work, including:
      • Surface preparation requirements.
      • Types of lines or stencils to be applied.
      • Estimated time for job completion.

Step 2: Inspect Equipment

  1. Sprayers:

    • Check for fuel (gas-powered) or power supply (electric-powered).
    • Inspect spray tips, hoses, and filters for damage or clogs.
    • Test the pressure system to ensure proper operation.
  2. Blowers:

    • Verify fuel levels and inspect for wear or damage.
    • Test airflow to confirm it’s functioning correctly.
  3. Other Tools:

    • Inspect stencils for damage or warping.
    • Ensure all hand tools (e.g., chalk line tools, scrapers) are clean and functional.

Step 3: Check Materials

  1. Paint:

    • Confirm you have the correct paint types and colors for the job.
    • Check paint containers for damage or leaks.
    • Verify the quantity is sufficient for the day’s work.
  2. Safety Supplies:

    • Ensure all necessary PPE is available:
      • High-visibility vests.
      • Gloves, safety glasses, and respirators.
    • Confirm the fire extinguisher is accessible and fully charged.
  3. Additional Materials:

    • Masking tape, cones, and other supplies for site setup.
    • Cleaning materials, such as paint thinner and rags.

Step 4: Prepare for the Job

  1. Load Equipment and Materials:

    • Organize tools and materials in the vehicle for easy access.
    • Secure all items to prevent damage during transportation.
  2. Review Emergency Plans:

    • Identify the nearest hospital or urgent care facility.
    • Ensure all team members have the supervisor’s and client’s contact information.
  3. Communicate with the Team:

    • Brief team members on their roles and responsibilities.
    • Confirm everyone understands the day’s schedule and objectives.

Step 5: Perform a Final Check

  1. Checklist Review:

    • Use the pre-job checklist to ensure nothing is overlooked.
    • Verify that all equipment, tools, and materials are accounted for.
  2. Departure Approval:

    • Obtain the supervisor’s approval before leaving for the job site.
